As always, before I state what my opinion of this novel is, this is what the goodreads summary says:
When Max Ravenscar, renowned gamester, and by his own definition, untroubled by a romantic disposition, meets Deborah Grantham, beautiful mistress of her aunt’s gaming house, all his experience of risk and gambles finds him unprepared.
My rating: 4 stars.
My overall thoughts/impressions: I wasn't overly fond of the last Georgette Heyer book I read and so I waited a long time before reading any of her other books.
WHAT WAS I THINKING?
I love Heyer's writing style, characters, and plot. This book was laugh-out-loud funny. Something that I actually did and something that resulted in me being the recipient of some strange looks.
This book is a cute, hilarious read. If you like Austen-type novels, this is for you.
The main characters Deb and Mr. Ravenscar's antics will leave you a few laughs lighter.
Warning/Side-notes: Nothing bad in this book. This book is perfectly clean. It doesn’t swear at all, and is one that the whole family could read without having any problems.
The Wrap-up: Why did I let that one Georgette Heyer book keep me from reading more from her? Her novels are absolutely hilarious. A great, cute, fun read.
In Summary: Love all things Austen? You’ll love this book. Give Heyer a shot, you won’t be disappointed.
