Book Review: Supernaturally by Kiersten White

Supernaturally
 (Paranormalcy #2)
By Kiersten White
Young Adult Paranormal
Pages: 336
Average Rating: 3.93

Before I get into what I think of this novel, here is what Goodreads has to say:

Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be . . . kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.

But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.
So much for normal.

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars. I keep battling between a 3.5 rating or a 4, but I'm a the cup is half full type of girl so yeah 4 stars.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I really liked the first one in this series, Paranormalcy. It caught my attention and kept my hooked and so I was really excited to read this novel.

I loved this novel, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one. I'm not sure why, but I think it might have to do with the shallow reason that I saw less of Lend in this novel than in the previous one and I'm a huge Lend fan.

This novel was a bridge between the first and third novel...the sequel is always hard to write. However, despite these difficulties I still really enjoyed this novel and felt like White did a great job.

I loved learning more about Evie's story and the character Jack was a riot to say the least. There was a lot of conflict and mystery involved with this novel and I enjoyed that.

I loved seeing how Evie grew in this novel and her attempts to come to grips with what she really is. I enjoyed the writing style. White's writing style is nothing if not entertaining.

A great read and I will definitely look forward to reading Endlessly the last novel in this series which comes out in late July 2012...so definitely a long wait.

In Summary: An entertaining novel that I really enjoyed reading. I loved the writing style and the characters; however, I felt like it wasn't quite as good as the first one.

Warnings/Side-notes: Nothing comes to mind. It's clean and good to go.

The Wrap-up: This is the sequel in the series that I think lovers of the paranormal genre will love. As mentioned, I didn't like this novel quite as much as I was hoping I would, but still a great read and I'll definitely be excited when the third and final installment in this series is released.

Love,
