NaNoWriMo 2011 officially a go.

Hey Readers,

It's been forever since I posted about writing...this month will fix that. Why? Because it's NaNoWriMo. :) And I've already written 6k on my story. :) :)

I love NaNoWriMo, this is my sixth year doing it and will hopefully be my sixth win.

Why do I do NaNo? Because I love to write and since I'm super competitive it forces me to write a lot. I know there are many critics of NaNo. They say that NaNo is off-target because people should write year round...I agree with that to a point.

If you're serious about writing, than you should write all year round. However, the community and comraderie of NaNo is great. I love NaNo.

I know another complaint is that it reults in bad, choppy writing. Most of my first drafts look that way--that's why there is editing.

I love editing and so yeah I'll edit my NaNo novel a lot. But there is also something great about writing 50k+ in one month.

I'm super stoked about NaNO...in case you can't tell. I will definitely be posting about NaNo on here. I hope you don't mind. :) I'm dani_writer over there. Feel free to add me as a writing buddy. I will return all of your requests.

Are you doing Nano? What are your thoughts on Nano? Sound off below. To those of you who are, best of luck.

Love,

Danica Page

  1. Wow, 6k already?! Way to go! I've got a little under 3k down. And I agree with you, my first round draft without NaNo would probably be around the same quality, but I wouldn't be writing it nearly as quickly. This is my first NaNo and I already think I'm in love. :)

    Good luck!
