Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly post by Jill at Breaking the Spine to spotlight upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week is my seventh time involved in this meme, and I chose the novel The Selection by Kiera Cass. I marked this novel on my to-read list a few months ago, and have seen it pop up quite frequently on my Goodreads emails and in blog posts. I decided that I'd finally feature it here on the blog.
The Selection comes out on April 24,2012...I don't know if I can wait that long.
And now here's the synopsis from Goodreads:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
This sounds so incredibly good that I know I'm just going to have to break down and buy this in hardback. I usually try to wait until books get to the library so I can read them before deciding if I want to buy them or wait until they reach paperback. None of those options are going to work for this novel. I'm going to have to buy it the day its released.
What book are you guys anxiously awaiting for? Anybody else dying for this book to come out? (I know a ton of you are) As always feel free to leave your Waiting on Wednesday link below.
And now here's my W.W.W. Wednesday post. This meme is hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.
To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?
What am I currently reading?
I am currently reading The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Yes, I know I haven't read these before. That really is sad, but I'm reading it now. That's got to count for something. I've heard great things about this author and this series and so I'm pretty excited about this.
I have really really high hopes for this novel and so I hope I like it. I put this on hold at the library and it's finally mine. Yes!
What did I recently finish reading?
I just finished reading Heir to Power by Michele Poague. This is a really long book, but I really loved the characters. It started out fairly slow, but it caught my interest soon enough. To see my official review click here.
I've also been rereading the Heroes of Quantico series by Irene Hannon, because I love her novels. I've only read them three times each now. That's totally respectable compared to how many times I've read Harry Potter.
What do I think I'll read next?
This is a really good question, because after I survive finals I'm heading back home and so I'm hitting the library in my hometown and hopefully get at least twenty novels to review plus I have a good ten novels or so left to review and am hoping to get all of them reviewed over the break...so yeah I'm going to be reading a lot as soon I survive getting to the 15th.
But I think I'm going to read Betrayals in the Strange Angels series by Lily St. Crow. I started reading this series forever ago and I really want to finish it. So I'm going to be rereading Strange Angels to refresh my memory and then jump into Betrayals. This is paranormal romance and so yeah sounds intriguing. I remember enjoying reading Strange Angels. It wasn't my favorite, but I've heard good things about it, so definitely excited to get caught up on this series. Plus, I might be totally off, but this looks like it's going to have its fair share of suspense and I love suspense.
