Book Review: Fire and Light by Emily Ann Ward

Fire and Light
(Protectors Prequels, #2)
by Emily Ann Ward
Received for Review from Author
Young Adult fantasy
e-book (95 pages)
Release Date: March 12,2012

Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis available on Smashwords:

Sierra has always considered Evan like a brother, but suddenly she sees him as more. When he confesses his feelings for her, she shies away. In the midst of her confusing feelings for Evan, the men threatening her family try to convince Sierra she’d be better off with them. Sierra thinks she’s brave enough to stay with the shape changers, but is she brave enough to risk her friendship with Evan?

A novella (nearly 28,000 words or 95 pages) in the Protectors prequels. Includes a synopsis for the first novella (Shifting Light) so you can jump right in.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: This is the fourth book I've read by Emily Ann Ward, and I've come to love her writing style. This series is one that I absolutely adore reading and definitely recommend.

She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her world building is always terrific, her character building is always masterfully done, and her ability to weave a story that I love is becoming inevitable.

This story is the second in the Protectors prequels series. The first one was about her sister Sashe and her relationship with Seth. The second one is about Sierra and Evan. Evan and Sierra were two characters that I absolutely loved reading about in the previous novel and I really loved getting to know them better in this book.

Emily has a talent for weaving a tale that leave me unable to do anything else until I've turned the last page. And even then, I find myself wanting to read more. I can't wait to read the next one in this series.

There has definitely been a tension building within the novels and I can't wait to see how everything ends. (Since I read Promising Light first, I have a fairly good idea of how it ends. However, I still can't wait to see how it all plays out.)

Basically, like I've said before anything written by Emily Ann Ward has become synonymous with a great read.

In Summary: Another book by Emily Ann Ward, so naturally it was incredible. I love this series and enjoyed getting to know Sierra and Evan better. I know I will be anxiously waiting for the next one to come out.

Warnings/Side-notes: There are romantic scenes, not sex scenes, but romantic scenes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anybody who is about sixteen or older. Definitely a great book. This book is very clean on the whole.

The Wrap-up: I really really enjoyed reading this one and can't wait to read the next one in the series. I'd like to thank Emily for giving me this book for review.

I'm including a link here that shows you where you can purchase this. It's only $1.99 and considering how great this novel is that is a bargain. You can buy it here.

Like I've mentioned before, read the Prequels novels before Promising Light. The first one in the prequels series is Shifting Light. My review of Shifting Light and Promising Light are here for those who are interested.
