Teaser Tuesday (17) and Top Ten Contemporary Realistic YA Books

~Teaser Tuesday~

This week marks the seventeenth time I've participated in Teaser Tuesday. This meme is hosted by Miz B of Should be Reading.

The rules are really simple. Just grab the book you're reading and turn to a random page. Pick two sentences and post them along with the page number, book, and author.

Without further ado here is my Teaser Tuesday for this week.

I'm currently reading Abandon by Meg Cabot (okay I just finished it literally a few minutes ago).

Here's the summary from Goodreads:

Pierce knows what it's like to die, because she's done it before.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back. But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most. But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

The myth of Persephone...darkly reimagined.

And now here's my teaser.

"You shouldn't have been there," he said through gritted teeth. "Any
more than you should be here now."
And the next thing I knew, he was psychically dragging me away
from the crypt." ~pg 90

That's all for me. Which book did you pick this week. Please comment and leave your link. I check out every single link and respond to every comment. :)

My Top Ten Contemporary Realistic YA Books

I'm aware that realistic ya isn't necessarily a genre, but I think it works. I feel like I've been focusing a lot on paranormal and dystopian lately. So I wanted to share some of my favorite realistic YA fiction. (This list is just in the order I thought of them, fyi).

10. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson- Sorry I feel like this one always makes the list. But I absolutely love this one. You have to read it if you haven't.

9. Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr- Definitely loved this one. I absolutely adored the writing and the plot line.

8. On Little Wings by Regina Sorois- I'm actually even currently hosting a giveaway for this one. I loved this one.

7. Anything Sarah Dessen- I absolutely love her novels. Definitely recommend this author.

6. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson- I absolutely loved loved this one. Definitely recommend it.

5. Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler- I loved loved this one. Like all the others on this list, this one is really powerful.

4. How to Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford- Oh how I loved this one. Definitely recommend it.

3. The Chosen One by Carolyn Lynch Williams- Sorry this one also seems to always make the list. However, this one is just so powerful and I think everybody should read it.

2. Because I am Furniture by Thalia Chaltas -This definitely isn't a book for everybody, but I loved it. It's just so different from anything else I've ever read.

1. Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson- This book was really touching. Definitely loved this one.

And that's all for me. What top ten books did you recommend? Please feel free to leave your link in the comments. I love reading them. :)
