Teaser Tuesday (18) and Top Ten Books I'm Reading this Spring

~Teaser Tuesday~

This week marks the eighteenth time I've participated in Teaser Tuesday. This meme is hosted by Miz B of Should be Reading.

The rules are really simple. Just grab the book you're reading and turn to a random page. Pick two sentences and post them along with the page number, book, and author.

Without further ado here is my Teaser Tuesday for this week.

I'm currently reading The Spirit's Princess by Esther Friesner. I loved the Nobody's Princess and The Sphinx's Princess series. This author is great and so when I saw this book up on netgalley I jumped at the chance to read it. I'm about 100 pages in.

Here's the summary from Goodreads:

Himiko the beloved daughter of a chieftain in third century Japan has always been special. The day she was born there was a devastating earthquake, and the tribe's shamaness had an amazing vision revealing the young girl's future—one day this privileged child will be the spiritual and tribal leader over all of the tribes. Book One revolves around the events of Himiko's early teen years—her shaman lessons, friendships, contact with other tribes, and journey to save her family after a series of tragic events. Once again, Esther Friesner masterfully weaves together history, myth, and mysticism in a tale of a princess whose path is far from traditional.

And now here's my teaser. (Sorry I had to do three lines this time. :) )

"Had he forgotten what he'd said to me last night? All I'd tried, all
I'd risked, all the pain and shame of my failure had been done to convince
him that I was just as worthy as Masa and Shoichi. And he didn't remember anything about it." ~pg 29 (at least for me it is)

That's all for me. Which book did you pick this week. Please comment and leave your link. I check out every single link and respond to every comment. :)

~Top Ten Tuesday~

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish featuring a new top ten list each week. Everyone can participate just head on over to their blog and sign up. Each week they will post a new top ten list that one of our bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All they ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday.

Top Ten Books I'm Reading this Spring

10. The Selection by Kiera Cass- This one comes out April 24th and I've been pining for it forever. It just looks go good.

9. Delirium by Lauren Oliver- I bought this one a few weeks ago and just haven't got to it yet. But I've heard really good things about this one.

8. Insurgent by Veronica Roth- Have you read Divergent? If you have, you'll understand why this is on the list. This one comes out May 1 and in my mind that is spring. I'll probably end up buying this one unless somebody I know gets it and lets me borrow it. That's what happened with Divergent.

7. Underworld by Meg Cabot- I just read Abandon and loved it, so this one is definitely on the list. This one comes out May 28...so yes it's leaning toward summer, but I'm still counting it as spring.

6. Grave Mercy by R.L. LaVefers-Everybody I know loved this one/is reading this one, and I want to read it. This one comes out April 3, 2012, so we're getting there.

5. Child of the Mountains by Marilyn Sue Shank- I have a netgalley copy of this one and am looking forward to reading it. This one comes out on April 10, 2012. I love the cover on this one.

4. Chosen Ones (The Lost Souls) by Tiffany Truitt- The cover just looks so pretty and it sounds really good. This one comes out on April 10, 2012 as well.

3. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas-I've been dying to read this one as well and just never have.

2.  War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy- I loved Anna Karenina and I am dying to get to this one.

1. The Little Woman by Louisa May Alcott- I know how have I not read this. It's time I amend that gross error.

And that's all for me. What top ten books did you recommend? Please feel free to leave your link in the comments. I love reading them. :)

Love,
Danica Page
