Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis:

From the acclaimed author of My Life Next Door comes a swoony summertime romance full of expectation and regret, humor and hard questions.

Gwen Castle has never so badly wanted to say good-bye to her island home till now: the summer her Biggest Mistake Ever, Cassidy Somers, takes a job there as the local yard boy. He's a rich kid from across the bridge in Stony Bay, and she hails from a family of fishermen and housecleaners who keep the island's summer people happy.

Gwen worries a life of cleaning houses will be her fate too, but just when it looks like she'll never escape her past—or the island—Gwen's dad gives her some shocking advice. Sparks fly and secret histories unspool as Gwen spends a gorgeous, restless summer struggling to resolve what she thought was true—about the place she lives, the people she loves, and even herself—with what really is.

A magnetic, push-you-pull-me romance with depth, this is for fans of Sarah Dessen, Jenny Han, and Deb Caletti.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I absolutely adore this book! Seriously, I went into this book without really knowing anything about it. I wasn't sure what the book was about or what I thought. Boy was I right to take a chance.

I love Sarah Dessen an Deb Caletti and Huntley Fitzpatrick definitely fits among those great authors. I was definitely not disappointed by this read.

I loved the story of Gwen and her self-discovery. The novel was intriguing and kept me hooked. I stayed up way too late reading it.

This book is one that I'm definitely glad I read. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more by this author. Definitely recommend this book to anybody who loves YA contemporary realistic fiction. I agree fans of Sarah Dessen and Deb Caletti will eat this book up.

So why 4 stars? I gave this one a 4 because it stood out among the masses of books I read and made me excited to read more by this author. It wasn't quite a 5 because it just lacked that extra something to make it one that I'm dying to go out and buy and reread.

In Summary: If you like realistic fiction, read this one! Fitzpatrick's sophomore novel is not one to miss and presents a thrilling intriguing tale that readers will love.

Warnings/Side-notes: This book talks about sex and drinking quite a bit. Not in graphic way, but it is there. I would recommend this to older teenagers.

The Wrap-up: Seriously, so glad I read this book. I adored it. So glad I took a chance. I'll admit I picked it up for the cover, but yeah glad I took the chance. Definitely recommended.
