Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

London Miller has one best friend.

She lives in the pages of the books she reads, preferring the safety of fictional worlds over the dark and scary reality of her own life. Books aren't her escape...they're her salvation.

Cooper Montgomery has one true love.

When he's on the mound, throwing a pitch, the darkness of his world fades away. The game is something he can control, something he can count on.

A twist of fate brings London and Cooper together, a curve ball that forces them both outside of their comfort zones. As they spend time together, a relationship begins to blossom and both of them start to believe that there just might be something bright and beautiful in their lives.

However, the game changes when your heart is on the line. You have to play with everything you have for the win.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

An Overview of the Novel: I'm not going to give anything away, but that is going to be really hard.

London wants to be a writer, that's it. She's dreamed of nothing else for years. And so when she gets assigned to cover an article on Cooper, she has no choice but to accept and to write a good article.

Cooper is an incredible baseball players and everybody knows it, including all the girls. London doesn't like how he treats them and is determined to stay away from him.

Cooper loves baseball. It's what he dreams about and he's not looking to get serious about anything else.

And yet, somehow life keeps throwing them together again and again. Now both of them are reconsidering their stances. But neither of them could have prepared for what comes next. It leaves them questioning everything.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: A cute book. I've been reading a lot of stories about baseball lately. I'm not really sure why, but I'm just into them.

This book was unexpected. I picked it up on a whim, but I actually really enjoyed it. It felt a little A Walk to Remember-ish to me. Bad boy who isn't really a bad boy with the good girl who's facing hard times that bad boy doesn't know about. Bad boy's ex getting mad and making school miserable for her.

However, despite those brief similarities, the book took on a life of its own for me. I actually really did enjoy the novel. I liked the characters.

There was not a lot of baseball talk in this novel, so you certainly don't have to be a fan of baseball to watch it.

If you love cute, realistic contemporary, then check this one out. It's a cute, quick read.

So why 3 stars? It just felt similar to many other books I've read. I was just expecting a little bit more, but I really did love it.

Warnings/Side-notes: Acceptable to all readers.

The Wrap-up: A cute read that I really enjoyed. Definitely recommend for fans of the genre.
