Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison--even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life.

When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions:  I read Cinder a long long time ago and so I was super excited to finally get my hands on this one. It was fantastic. I adored Cinder, but I loved this one even more than the first one.

Scarlet and Wolf were just two fantastic characters that I adored reading about, plus we got to read about Cinder and Kai still. A truly fantastic novel.

I especially loved Wolf. He was such a great character and I loved reading about him. He might be one of my all-time favorite characters. He was very complex and I will admit to having a little bit of a bad-boy syndrome.

Meyer has done a great job with world-building and with character-building as well. I just adore reading about these characters. They are fantastic.

This series comes highly recommended. If you love fairytale retellings, sci-fi, fantasy, or just epic novels, then this one is a must-read.

I am dying to read Cress. Seriously a fantastic series. It's surprisingly original and I adore it.

So why 4 stars? I adore the series. I think I'm just really stingy giving away 5's. This novel almost makes me want to give a 5. It's great.

Can I read the series out of order? I suppose you could, but I really wouldn't recommend it.

Warnings/Side-notes: None.

The Wrap-up: An incredible novel. I'm so in love with the series that frankly it's ridiculous.

Love,

Danica Page

  1. I'm glad that you enjoyed this. Unfortunately, I thought Scarlet wasn't as good as its predecessor but my friend said that Cress was much more superior than Scarlet so I'm still super excited to continue the series :)
