Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Hunter Waters has loved only one woman for his entire life.

Unfortunately she's his brother's girlfriend, Ever Allen. Hunter isn't the kind of guy to betray family, but when his brother Sam has to leave town and asks Hunter to look after her, the feelings he's fought for years can no longer be buried.

Ever can't think of a time when both Waters brothers hadn't been watching her back. Sam's boldness had charmed her, but now Hunter's quiet, steady strength makes her feel safe for the first time in her crazy, messed-up life. But how can she choose between the only two people in the world to have cared about her? How can she live with loving one brother if it means breaking the other's heart?

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an e-galley of this novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to write a good review nor did I receive any compensation for writing this review.

The Characters: I really liked Hunter. He was well-written and I felt like the author did a good job at showcasing his voice.

Ever was a character that I liked, but one that I didn't feel like I really got to know as much as I would have liked to. I knew her past and the situation with her family, but I didn't really get to know what was going on in her head.

That's kind of how it was with Hunter too, but for some reason I felt more connected to him. Maybe, I didn't feel as connected to the characters because it was a novella and the author had less time to dive into their pasts.

Having said that, I did enjoy the characters. I thought some of them made idiotic decisions, but I still liked them.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I enjoyed this one. I thought the writing was great and enjoyed the plot line. It was an intriguing book and one that I read very quickly.

This book focuses primarily on romance, so romance readers should love this one. Fans of novels that focus more on characters, growth, and development probably won't like this one as much. For example, instead of focusing on Ever's grief over her father's death it focuses on the romance. I didn't mind, but for readers who like deep novels exploring grief and overcoming it, this novel isn't for you.

I really enjoyed the novel and am so glad I read it. I would be curious to read the rest in the series.

So why 3.5 stars? An enjoyable read and I really liked it, but not one that really stood out in a significant enough way to be a 4. Just a fun, light read, despite the dramatic beginning.

Warnings/Side-notes: New Adult, but as far as NA went this one was really clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one to teens. There are a few sexual comments but there weren't any detailed sexual scenes.

The Wrap-up: An enjoyable fun read. One that focuses on a cute romance and is actually quite well-written.

Love,

Danica Page
