Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Tomboy to the core, Toni Valentine understands guys. She'll take horror movies, monster hunts and burping contests over manicures. So Toni is horrified when she's sent to the Winston Academy for Girls, where she has to wear a skirt and learn to be a lady while the guys move on without her.

Then Toni meets Emma Elizabeth, a girl at school with boy troubles, and she volunteers one of her friends as a pretend date. Word spreads of Toni’s connections with boys, and she discovers that her new wealthy female classmates will pay big money for fake dates. Looking for a way to connect her old best friends with her new life at school, Toni and Emma start up Toni Valentine’s Rent-A-Gent Service.

But the business meets a scandal when Toni falls for one of her friends--the same guy who happens to be the most sought-after date. With everything she's built on the line, Toni has to decide if she wants to save the business and her old life, or let go of being one of the guys for a chance at love.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an e-galley of this novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to write a good review nor did I receive any compensation for writing this review.

The Characters: Toni is an incredibly well-written character. She's that character that you can connect with from the get-go. She's a fierce tomboy who's trying to keep her group of friends together. It's their senior year, and they all seem to be drifting apart. Then things get worse, when she gets sent to an all-girl private school. I liked Toni. She wasn't a whiny character, but was one that was real. She was funny and actually felt like a high school kid.

Locke was another character that I really liked and all the secondary characters really. They are characters that I liked from the beginning. They were all funny and original.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I really liked this one. From the very first page, I was hooked. Writing-wise, this novel was one of the best novel I've read recently. And it was her debut novel too. That's even more fantastic.

This novel didn't read as a debut but rather as an experienced novelist. The plot and the characters were also interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

Fans of realistic contemporary will like this one. It's funny, well-written, and entertaining.

It doesn't go into any hard-hitting issues but isn't complete fluff either.

I definitely recommend this one. If you liked Shut Out to name one novel, then check this one out.

So why 4 stars? It was just enjoyable, well-written, and stood out from the rest of the crowd.

Warnings/Side-notes: Fairly clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one. There are a few mentions of drinking alcohol and a few sexual references, but it's all very clean.

The Wrap-up: An enjoyable, cute read that caught my attention from the beginning. This is an epic review and I'm super excited to check out her sophomore novel.

Love,

Danica Page
