Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Life is full of choices: good, bad, and ones you can’t control.

Raegan strives to be perfect in every way. Varsity cheerleader, honor student, and proud granddaughter of Dover Lowery. By day, Raegan is an over-achieving high school student, but at three o’clock, her real work begins.

What happens when appearances are not what they seem? Will Raegan be able to hold on to her life as she knows it, or will she be left all alone?

All of these questions are answered with one night, one song, one story, and one boy.

My Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an e-galley of this novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to write a good review nor did I receive any compensation for writing this review.

In a Line: I wanted to like this one, and I wanted to give it 3 stars. But it didn't quite make the cut. It had a lot of potential, but just fell a little bit short.

The Characters: I had a hard time connecting with them. I wanted to like them, but I felt that the author could have developed them more. She created this character Raegan who had been through so much grief and hardship. She felt she needed to be perfect for everybody.

Those are some tough issues. I felt that the author largely ignored them. She should have spent more time resolving them I though.

Emmett was a character that I enjoyed, but I do felt like he could have been better developed.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: A book that had a lot of potential, but didn't quite live up to it. The writing was skillful and the overall plot of the story was well developed.

However, it just lacked that extra touch of polishing the plot and the holes. If she had added a few more chapters or resolved more of the issues she brought up in the novel.

I'm curious to see what this author does next. She does have a lot of potential, and I think her books could get better.

So why 2.5 stars? Lack of resolution.

Warnings/Side-notes: Vague sexual references. Appropriate for 15+.

The Wrap-up: A book that had strong moments but also a lot of holes.

Love,

Danica Page
