Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Eighteen year old Gray McAllister is on the run. Leaving her dangerous past behind her is easier said than done, even when she finds herself at last able to forge a new life.

But then the planets align and Gray finds herself bumping into super-hot Thane Blackwell. Drooling over him from afar is safe but that's only until she is forced to look after Thane while he recovers from surgery.

Being holed up in her apartment is a bad, bad idea. Can Gray control the fire that Thane seems to light inside her, or will she give in to her deepest desires. Can Thane achieve his goal without hurting Gray in the process?

The stakes are impossibly high, but love and lies don't play nice with each other. Will Gray's past catch up with her first? Or will Thane's own secrets explode and tear them apart?

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an e-galley of this novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to write a good review nor did I receive any compensation for writing this review.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions:  Some parts of this book were a 2, and a few were a 4. So I averaged it to a 3.5. This book was fast paced and intense. I enjoyed it immensely.

It talked about a subject about which I am passionate about and actively volunteer to prevent (sorry for the vagueness, but I don't want to give anything a way). That right there automatically caught my interest.

I thought the author did an incredible job of blending the past story with the current story.

While I thought Gray was a little bit immature and gullible, it fit the story. There were a few scenes and a few actions of other people that I couldn't believe she'd accept so quickly. Those did knock portions of the book down to a two for me.

The relationship between Gray and Thane was also a 2 in this book. Other parts that were a 2 include some portions where the author tried to build suspense, but I saw right through it.

However, I really enjoyed the novel and can't wait to read the sequel.

The Characters: Gray and Thane were enjoyable to read about, but I really hope we get more insight into their characters in the next book.

Major Strengths: Plot line, originality, and the fast-paced plot line.

Major Weaknesses: Mentioned above in greater detail. However, certain scenes that seemed unrealistic or too obvious were the major weaknesses.

So why 3.5 stars? Despite some minor flaws, it did stand out from the crowd. It also made me excited to read the sequel.

Warnings/Side-notes: This novel was fairly young adult as far as content goes. However, I feel like this series will become increasingly more new adult. It deals with a tricky subject. For that, I'd recommend 17+.

The Wrap-up: An intriguing, enjoyable novel. It had it's flaws, but on the whole, it was a great read.
