Review: Chasing Impossible by Katie McGarry

Chasing Impossible
(Pushing the Limits, #5)
by Katie McGarry
Young Adult
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.45
Published on: July 1, 2015

Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Tough and independent, 17-year-old Abby lets very few people into her inner circle. It’s common knowledge in her Kentucky town that she deals drugs, but not even her closest friends know why. But when a deal goes south and Abby’s suddenly in danger, she finds herself reluctantly forced to lean on daredevil Logan—a boy whose restless spirit matches her own.

Logan has his own reasons for wanting to keep Abby at arms’ length. But he never expected to find in her the one person who might help him face the demons he’s tried so hard to run from.

Together, Abby and Logan will have to make a decision: let their current circumstances weigh them down forever…or fight for the future they both thought was impossible.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received a copy of this novel from the publisher as part of a giveaway.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I adore Katie McGarry and all of her books. This one was no exception. I left the series heartbroken by the idea that she wasn't going to tell Abby's or Logan's stories.

Then I got this novel that told both of their stories. It was absolutely brilliant. I adored every minute of it.

Abby, the drug dealing teenager, made for a harsh read sometimes. However, like always McGarry told the story in a way that drew me in. Abby was a character that I actually liked despite everything else.

The writing was fast paced and the story had me hooked from page one until the very last page.

The chemistry between Logan and Abby was fantastic. This book had me laughing out loud, so anxious I wanted to bite my fingernails, and desperate to get to the ending.

Major Strengths: Fast paced, great characters, stellar writing.

Major Weaknesses: Theme matter but I still loved it.

So why 4 stars? It's Katie McGarry...enought said. Okay in all seriousness, I really did enjoy it. Not quite perfect 5 stars, but still enjoyable.

Can I read the series out of order? You can read it as a stand alone, but it would be better to read in order of the series.

Warnings/Side-notes: Strong instances of language, violence, and sexual innuendos.

The Wrap-up: I loved it. Definitely comes recommended.

Love,

Danica Page

  3. I honestly expected Abby to be paired up with Ethan, but I gotta say I've been wanting to read Logan's story ever since he was first introduced. Great review! :)

    1. I can see why you thought that. I didn't necessarily think that Abby and Logan would be paired up. But I wanted to read both of their stories. Thanks for commenting.
