When I'm not reading...I think about the End it Movement

Hello Fellow Page Turners,

When I'm not reading and I get my head out of a book, it's for this cause.

There shouldn't be over 27 million people enslaved today. Human trafficking is a real problem. Being aware of it won't stop the problem, but being aware of it is the first step to stopping it.

I invite you to likewise post about this on your media channels. And if you haven't read Half the Sky, Not in My Backyard, and many more. Well worth the read.

Reading Romance this Valentine's Day?

Hello Fellow Page Turners,

I came across this great post about books to snuggle up with this Valentine's Day, and I thought it was fantastic.

I've only read a few of them, but I loved the ones I have. Check it out here

I've really liked the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, anything by Emery Lord, or Kasie West.

What about you?

Review: Winter (Lunar Chronicles, #4) by Marissa Meyer

(The Lunar Chronicles,#4)
by Marissa Meyer
Young Adult
Average Goodreads Rating: 4.54
Published by: Feiwel and Friends
Published on: November 10, 2015
Pages: 824

Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Why did I decide to turn the pages? I love this series and had to know how it ended.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I was hesitant to read this one because I have hated how several series have ended recently. This book was fantastic. It, for the most part, wasn't predictable but it also didn't devastate me.

Marissa Meyer did a great job at tying all the characters' stories together. She has such a complex cast of characters and so many of them, and yet she did a brilliant job at weaving them all together.

This series is one that I definitely recommend. It's not your typical fairtytale retlling. Meyer did a great job with this one.

Definitely recommended.

The Characters: All beautifully crafted. They had such different personalities and I loved all of them.

Major Strengths: Everything.

Major Weaknesses: It was 824 pages; but I did read it all in one sitting.

So why 4.5 stars? Not quite a 5 star book; but it was really close. I think it could have been oh 100 pages shorter.

Can I read the series out of order? I don't recommend it.

Warnings/Side-notes: None, which is actually really refreshing. Recommended for all ages.

The Wrap-up: A fun book which I enjoyed reading. I can't wait to read more by Meyer

2016: What books are on your dying to read list.

Fellow Page Turners,

I'm jumping into 2016 a month late. Preparing and studying for the LSAT, completing law school applications, then applying took all my time. So I'm just now joining the book scene.

So what great books did I miss in January?

I'm excited to get caught up. Here are some of the books I'm dying to read this year.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas- Confession. I still need to read the first in the series, but I'm excited for this one.  I've heard it's fantastic.

Untitled Throne of Glass (#5) by Sarah J. Maas- I haven't read the fourth one yet, but I definitely need to. I've loved this series so much. Can't wait for this one.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer- I don't think this one needs any explanation. I love her books. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

And I Darken by Keirsten White- I'm really excited for this one as well. I adore this author. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

P.S. I like You by Kasie West- Yet another one that I'm dying to read. I love Kasie West. She's a great author.

Remembrance by Meg Cabot- I will admit to being hesitant about this. I loved this series in jr. high. I'm always hesitant when authors resume books after they've left them behind for years. But I'll still plan on reading it.

When We Collided by Emery Lord- I still haven't read anything by this author, but I hear she's fantastic. I really need to change that.

Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry- I actually preordered this one. I love McGarry. I own every single one of her books. I can't wait for this one.

In Real Life by Jessica Love- This one just looks cute. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout- Yet another one I've preordered. I love this author, and I'm not willing to admit how many times I've reread her books.

Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally- I love this series. I can't wait to read one about soccer. That was the sport I played, so I have big hopes.

A Daring Sacrifice by Jodi Hedlund- I adore this author and have loved all the books I've read by her. I can't wait for this one.

Wanderlost by Jen Malone- It also looks fantastic, and I love roadtrip books.

I could choose many more, but we'll stop there. What about you? What are you guys waiting for this year.
