Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:
Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Why did I decide to turn the pages? I love this series and had to know how it ended.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I was hesitant to read this one because I have hated how several series have ended recently. This book was fantastic. It, for the most part, wasn't predictable but it also didn't devastate me.
Marissa Meyer did a great job at tying all the characters' stories together. She has such a complex cast of characters and so many of them, and yet she did a brilliant job at weaving them all together.
This series is one that I definitely recommend. It's not your typical fairtytale retlling. Meyer did a great job with this one.
Definitely recommended.
The Characters: All beautifully crafted. They had such different personalities and I loved all of them.
Major Strengths: Everything.
Major Weaknesses: It was 824 pages; but I did read it all in one sitting.
So why 4.5 stars? Not quite a 5 star book; but it was really close. I think it could have been oh 100 pages shorter.
Can I read the series out of order? I don't recommend it.
Warnings/Side-notes: None, which is actually really refreshing. Recommended for all ages.
The Wrap-up: A fun book which I enjoyed reading. I can't wait to read more by Meyer
Love,
